After the disappointment at Tulsa this year my dad (Phil Lehart) has his '66 mustang back and running and we are planning to take it to PVR in Dibol either Friday July 31 or Saturday August 1 if there is any interest from any club members who want to make a trip down. Let me know if there is any interest or interest in setting another track day some time soon because we should be going pretty regularly and it would be cool to make it a group outing somewhere.
Thanks
Russ

Well, the weather forecast was not acceptable so we did not go but we plan to make it down to Dibol this Friday night for some test and tune. If one of us don't make it up for the meeting Tuesday night will you mention it to anyone who may be interested. It would be nice to see some of you guys down here at the strip.
Thanks

| Will do. What actually went wrong with the '66? I never heard what happened.

The block cracked and let water into the crank case therefore causing it to throw 2 caps. It also broke the rods on the #4 and #8 cylinders. So it took a new block, and 2 new pistons, which were custom, rods, and a new oil pump because it was fried. The oil pan was salvaged also as the hole was not huge. They just welded another small piece back up to it. The broken spark plug was unrelated to this incident. Apparently when we put the headers in, which is a dang tight fit, they were damaged a bit.
I believe when you stroke those 460's there is a problem with the jernals being to far offset and not able to get enough lubrication. Ours is stroked to make 501 c.i. But the biggest concern was cylinder head damage but there was none found to them nor the cam so we shall see.

| Wow, I had no idea that there was that much damage.
