Well the good news..got them working,it was the screw that holds the cvr to the back of the cluster...but now the gauges are pegging all the way to the right...and sometimes they quit working...is that the ground???

| the ground missing could make them peg, sounds like you still have some loose conections somewhere. When they peg mesure the case of the cvr it should be 0 volts dc. If that is good then prob the cvr is still bad. I know it is a new one but it could still be bad.

| The way to ell if the cvr is bad #! verify the ground on the case. If good then you should have 12VDC on one termanal and about 5vdc on the other with the key on. this is all it does. If you have 12 on one and 0 or 12 on the other it is bad.

Junior, glad to see that you got the gauges working. What a hassle. I guess the quality of CVRs are not as good as they used to be.
David, great diagnostic work!

The new cvr suck. The way to fix it is to open it up and solder a 5vdc positive regulator (they look like tabed power transistors) in place of the old guts. then no more problems. Bring one of the old ones to the meeting and I will fix you up.
