Hey everyone, I'm checking back in again. I signed up a few years back and never really was very active. I guess it was more of the fact that I was a grand ol' 19 years of age then and just felt a little out of place more so than anything (definitely not saying it was anyone's fault at all, I guess just a large age discrepency does that to us young and impressionables lol). I know a few members here know and have met me on several occassions (David and Michael to be specific) and I'm sure some of you remember me talking a bit about my Mystichrome whenever I first joined up. It's undergone a lot of changes since I bought her completely stock back then. I'll drop a couple videos for you guys to watch (they're loud, so if you'd like turn the speakers and bass all the way up ;)) to see where the car basically stands today.

Another big reason I'm back is I wanted to ask some of you guys that are more into the classic stangs about what you think a certain car I've come across is worth. I stumbled upon a 69 Boss 429 that's had very little restoration work done (mostly small things like new carpet, headliner, re-chroming the factory interior pieces). Everything on the car is all numbers matching and is flawless. The carb, intake, block, heads, all body panels, EVERYTHING is all numbers matching. So, I was wanting to pick your brains about what the price of this car really should be. I'll try to come back in a bit and post up some pictures of the car as well so you all can see how clean the car is inside and out.

Thanks in advance everyone, and I'll try to stay more active this time :D

Edit: Here are the pictures of the car. It's also got 34,000 original miles on it as well. Enjoy!

Mystic, first of all, welcome back. I remember meeting you and your Cobra was nice then. You definitely have made some changes. The vids were awesome and the Cobra sounds really good. What's it putting down now with the Kenny-Bell?

The Boss '9 is unbelievably nice. I have no idea what it's worth in today's screwy market. There are others on this board who watch the market more closely than I do, so hopefully they will chime in. Is the Boss '9 local?

The boss isn't really local, but definitely a one day drive away there and then back. The cobra made 578/494 rwhp/rwtq at 14 psi. And thanks for the input!

I asked one of our members who follows the '69-'70s very closely and here is what he replied back to me:

"A lot! Seriously, I would say in todays market, (if the car is as advertised) somewhere b/t 150-200K. Boss 9s have a bunch of unique parts that are unavailable or unobtainable. Very very important to get a complete car."

I think his point is well taken that the car must be complete with all of its unique parts. Hopefully some more will chime in too. Are you seriously considering this Boss or just day-dreaming like the rest of us?

BTW, the Cobra's numbers are very impressive, to say the least. :dude:

A couple of years ago, a complete Boss 429 in great condition was worth around $275,000. The market is soft right now and I would think that those numbers have dropped 30-35%.

I subscribed to Old Cars Report Price Guide and the most recent edition indicates the following:

No. 1 Condition $335,500

No. 2 Condition $234,500

No. 3 Condition $150,750

No. 4 Condition $ 67,000

No. 5 Condition $ 40,200

No. 6 Condition $ 13,400

Just because these guides show high prices doesn't mean that the market will support them. Remember that these numbers are based upon historical sales and do not neccessarily reflect current market trends.

definitely not just a day dream at all. With the advertised price of the car. If this is completely legit. It sounds like someone who doesn't know what they have as the asking price is legitimately about $100K under what it seems like a lot of these cars are going for on a regular basis. I'm not saying too much but it's well under $50k. WELL, under that mark. I'm going to try to contact the seller and get the VIN for a break down of everything that's supposed to be on the car from the factory and what not and compare it to what's actually on the car. This is assuming the VIN is legitimate as well, and not just on amazing clone of a car done with matching parts from a donor that may have needed to much work to keep the original chassis. Thanks for the input for sure guys, and if this pans out this WILL be making the trek to East Texas!

Edit: I went ahead and just E-mailed the seller. I'll be awaiting the reply and if I must I will either fly out to the vehicle and go over it myself, or have someone I trully trust with the classic 'stangs to go view the car in person and check everything over that is a little more local to the car. Either way, I just got the ball rolling.

Well cool, we all sure hope it works out for you. Keep us posted on your progress. If you are able to get it, it will be the 1st Boss '9 in MOET that I'm aware of anyhow. Best of luck ! 'congrat'

So, after several days have gone by, I still haven't received a reply to my E-mail yet. This bums me out, but after finding out the Kenne Bell needs a rebuild and will end up costing about $1700 to have that done, it's probably for the better right now. I guess the decision now is whether or not I should just rebuild the blower and sell the entire supercharger assembly for 03/04 cobra (lower intake manifold, intercooler, heat exchanger, all lines and hoses, intake, etc...) and go turbo or not. If I sell the supercharger assembly I'll be able to recoop about 1/2, maybe a little bit more, of the cost of going large twins on the car.

Twin turbos would be definitely cool.

Hopefully the Boss '9 is not a scam. A couple of our MOET members have had their Mustang pics and descriptions lifted off of e-Bay and re-listed by someone else at a ridiculously low price trying to get a down payment or credit/banking information from an unsuspecting buyer. Be careful...

The only way this car would be purchased was if someone I know and trust can check the car out that's more local to it than I am and they tell me it's actually legit and worth the time to see it myself. Then I would go visit the vehicle and seller to check things over myself. Then it would be a money transfer and title exchange. Title in hand with receipt of payment and I would have all records of transaction and I would wait for the shippers to arrive and watch the vehicle be loaded onto the trailer and leave. And with a vehicle of this high of value it would mean being able to have constant contact and updates with the shipping company until it made it safely to my home. As I mentioned though, I still haven't received any contact fro
The seller so this may all be bunk anyways.
