Help me out guys.  I wanta go road racing, but need advise as to what I can do to set up the car?

Planning on doing the Shelby drop on the front suspension, but I think I need to find some Granada spindles for the disc brakes?

I have a four speed in the car, but do not know what type rear end to use?  Should I find a 9" rear end, or stay with the 8" that is in the car? Will installing a spool help with what I am wanting to do???   Any suggestions?

If you live in Tyler, come to breakfast Sat. morning, 6:30-7:45 @ Duane's Restaurant on E. Fifth St. Some of the club members who road race will be there and can give you the low down on "trial and error" of this process.

P.S. I don't think you want to run a spool on a road race situation.

The shelby drop is a good road race mod. You want to get a kit with the ball joint shims though or you will wear them out quick (been there). The spool is for drag racing only and ruins your car for anything but a stright line. Disk brakes are a must and the bigger the better. In a early stang upgrading the rear helps also. In a road race better brakes will beat a bigger motor every time. A good mached set of anti sway bars and racing springs will keep you on the track. A nine inch rear is stronger but the 8 is lighter and will handle more than most give it credit for, unless you are pushing 350-400 hp the 8 will work, There is not as much stress on it in a road race rather than drag racing. If you want to be serious on the track you will have to have a set of tires just for the track for best perfomance:cool:.
